AQUA TERRA SPRINT ADVENTURE RACE
New for 2008 the Aqua Terra Sprint will take place on the spring fed waters of the
San Marcos River in San Marcos, Texas.   The AT Sprint is open to solo and tandem teams and either kayaks or canoes may be used.  Keeping in the Aqua Terra tradition racers will paddle, splash and trek their way to the finish line.  The course will offer challenges unique to the San Marcos River including class I & II rapids, a trip through the new Rio Vista Water Park and an exhilarating portage over a 20 foot dam.  For those needing a boat,  TG Canoe Livery will be offering rentals with delivery and pick up so all you have to do is show up ready to race.  River front camping will also be available for the true outdoor adventurer.

Saturday, August 2, 2008 6:00 am - 7:00 am all racers will need to drop their boats at the boat drop during this time.  Leave all paddles with your boat.  DO NOT LEAVE PFDs AT BOAT DROP.  Directions to private boat drop location will be given out 2 weeks prior to the event.  If unable to make boat drop by specified time, team must notify race director to make other boat drop arrangements.  Please note: boat drop is not the actual location of the race start.  Racers will not see boats again until after the race has started.  Your boat should be race ready when you leave it.

Due to the nature of this event there will be a 50 team cap.  Ensure your participation in the race by submitting your entry as early as possible.

If the race has not sold out, a limited number of slots will be available for late entries.  Late registration will be $70.00 per person after July 23rd, 2008.  Email reservations required.  T-shirts not guaranteed for late registrants.

Course:

 

Sprint a 3-5 hour course that will challenge teams with paddling, trekking, and various mystery events.   The course will offer challenges unique to the San Marcos River including class I & II rapids, a trip through the new Rio Vista Water Park and an exhilarating portage over a 20 foot dam.

Course Description:

 

Flowing class I & II river.
Rural and urban trekking.

Disciplines & Distances:

 

Sprint Course

Paddling 6-7 Miles
Trekking 3-5 Miles
Navigation skills, basic map reading

Maps:

 

Waterproof maps will be provided. No outside maps allowed.

Camping:

 

Camping, showers and restroom facilities will be available at a location TBA.  Cost is $5 per person.

Shuttle to start:

 

Race organizers will provide a shuttle from TG Canoe Livery to the race start.  Shuttle will leave shortly after the pre race meeting.  All cars must be left at TG Canoe Livery.

Canoe Rental:

 

Teams may provide their own canoes or kayaks or rent one

(no restriction to type or make)
TG Canoe Livery will provide canoe rentals including pick up & delivery for a cost of $40 per tandem $30 per solo boat, paddles and PFDs provided.  There is a limited amount of canoes & kayaks available for rental.  Credit card pre payment & deposit are required.  Contact Duane at TG’s for reservations at :
